- I created the "NewStar" communications platform after my experiences directing and producing a documentary in rural Myanmar in 2005. After consulting with NGOs in SE Asia and South Asia I realized that the typical method of disseminating pro-social educational messages in villages (sending out teams with a generator, a projector, a "fun movie" to attract a crowd and a brief "message movie" to educate them) could be made 10x more effective with a little creativity (without spending much more on equipment or time).
- Realizing the nearly universal applicability of NewStar to any of the developing world’s public health and education needs I decided to seek out a global partner (I'm only one person, after all, and am busy with my day jobs.)
- Looking at 2010 for launch of various NewStar platforms.
